2015 Ferrari 458 | new car review

Looks
Where to start? Have you seen the picture? The 2015  ( version) and the 458 Spider ( version) are striking to say the least. The headlamps are savage, the wheel arches are pronounced, and the detailing is exquisite. The little flick up at the back is just the icing on the cake. It has almost a retro look about it, a 60’s throwback perhaps. It is the epitome of the beautiful car.

Feel
The moment you sit inside the 458 the world as you know it ceases to be and everything will feel like a race circuit. The pedestrians will be your “tifosi”, the traffic lights will be your start signal, and inevitable police chase will be your chequered flag. Everything about this car feels like it was meant to be raced.

Engineering
Let’s see, well as you would expect, the 458 is pretty slick. For enhanced performance, the rear tyres are two inches larger than the front, and with a wheel-base of 2650mm you can be sure that the handling will be off the hook!

What’s on offer?
You can choose between the 458 Italia coupe model and the 458 Spider convertible. You’ll be happy with either, especially when 0-100kp/h is dealt with in 3.4 seconds. Both come with a 7-speed F1 dual clutch transmission and the old girl will top out at around 325kp/h. Base prices are expected to be around AED 907,000.

Summing it
A Ferrari is the ultimate statement, whether you like them or not. There is something about the 458 that just makes it irresistible. Ok, it’s nearly AED 1 million, but so what? If you can afford one it proves that you know your cars. The 458 is the ultimate desire in the exclusive Ferrari club.
