 The Ciaz is more than just a new car for Maruti. It’s the company’s ticket to take its brand upscale.

Maruti Ciaz will be launched next month. The carmaker has revealed that prices of the Ciaz will be out by mid-October after an international reveal at the upcoming Paris Motor Show 2014.

Dealers have started taking bookings since September 3, for an amount of Rs 21,000. However there is no information shared on the deliveries of the car.

The Maruti Ciaz sedan has two engines on offer; a 1.4-litre K10B petrol unit that makes 91bhp and a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel unit that makes 89bhp. Both engines have been borrowed from the Ertiga MPV. Maruti claims ARAI-certified 20.73kpl fuel efficiency for the petrol model and 26.2kpl for the diesel.

It will be available in four trim levels V, V+, Z and Z+ and seven colour shades. The range-topping trims will have features like 16-inch alloys, touchscreen infotainment system, rear air-con vents, climate control and keyless entry.


 At the rear, the tail-lights bear more than a passing resemblance to the Honda City.

The 520-litre boot (which has an electrical release) is well shaped.

 It also gets features such as automatic climate control and keyless entry.
 The instrument cluster includes a multi-info display.
 Two engines are on offer - a 91bhp 1.4-litre K10B petrol motor and a 89bhp 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced diesel.
 The Z+ trim gets a touchscreen on the centre console through which all infotainment functions can be controlled.
 The Maruti Ciaz gets projector headlamps.a
 The Maruti Ciaz comes with Maruti’s new SmartPlay infotainment system, available on the higher variants.
 The higher variants of the Ciaz also get push-button start.


 The Ciaz’s cabin feels more upmarket than any mid-size Suzuki till date.

 Rear AC vents and a 12V power socket are also on offer.
